Bioinformatics Scientist
Compendia Bioscience is looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist to join our team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaboration with Compendia's scientists to understand our customer's questions about cancer, patients, and drugs, and develop data analysis strategies and plans to answer them.
- Implementation of data integration and analysis pipelines, in Pipeline Pilot and/or scripting languages, drawing on Compendia's large collection of high-throughput genomic data and sample annotations.
- Development of visualization environments in Spotfire to enable scientists to explore the data and answer questions.
- Written and verbal presentation of results and methods.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven understanding of basic biology, genomics, microarrays, high-throughput data analysis, and genomic databases.
- Expertise processing, analyzing, and mining large genomic datasets and/or databases.
- Scientific experience in cancer study and/or research.
- Strong computational skills, particularly in data parsing, analysis, and database implementation.
- Ability to review, synthesize, and present scientific data and methods.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous bioinformatics and scientific programming experience necessary; experience with Spotfire, Pipeline Pilot, R, SQL, and NGS a plus.
- Pharmaceutical experience and lead author publications are highly valued.
COMPANY CULTURE: Compendia's culture reflects the intellectual inquisitiveness and diverse abilities of our people. It is a place where advanced technology intersects with cutting edge scientific research: where an ad hoc meeting might be about next-generation sequencing, a new statistical analysis technique, a new dynamic visualization approach, a new application of ontology-based knowledge representation to search techniques, or an exciting new cancer research discovery. We are looking for people who are excited by such an environment, who like to learn, and who will contribute their own unique perspectives to our collective understanding of how we can cure cancer with genomic data.
